• How do you get pets to sit still long enough to shoot?

Most dogs are surprisingly well behaved once they realize there will be treats after a few photos…We work with their personalities and can capture multiple shots in a matter of seconds. The shoots are fun and lighthearted, and we do everything we can to make your dog feel at ease.

  • How long does a studio shoot typically take?

We reserve an hour at the studio for your session. But don’t worry if your dog won’t sit still for long — we can usually capture everything we need in a shorter time window.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

Just you and your dog. If they have a favorite toy you’d like in a photo with them, bring that too. We always have treats on hand, but if your dog is on a special diet, you may want to bring your own.

  • What does UPEA mean?

Upea (ooh-pay-ah) is a Finnish word that means “stunning” or “beautiful”. Jussi Oksanen is originally from Finland, so feel free to ask him how it’s pronounced!

  • How big can I print the final photos?

Each photo you will receive after your shoot will be high resolution and designed to be printed at large scale. Our commercial clients have transformed images into billboards, so go as big as you want.

  • I have 3 dogs. Can I get portraits of both of them in the same session?

Yes! Bring them all and we can get individual and group photos of them within your session. Because of the additional time needed for editing, we charge $100 per additional pet.

  • Do you use props?

We have props available such as hats, scarves and glasses. We also use a fan when appropriate for that “windblown look”.

  • Do you only shoot dogs, or can I bring my cat/rabbit/capybara?

We can shoot any reasonably-sized pet in our Leucadia studio. If you have a larger animal you’d like a portrait of, we can bring our studio to you.

  • What is the pricing for an at-home studio shoot?

The price will depend on the location, the scope of the project, and how many animals you are looking to include. Contact us and we can talk through your vision.
